Jarod Foster
His booming voice is what grabs you right away. I love the feeling a voice like that gives you. The CD is is a great mix from a couple very fast paced, would keep the dance floors going and happy to some tone it down, love songs and a few in between. The story telling is fantastic, country song stories, told well, colorful. Jarod’s vocals are enhanced by an outstanding band song after song. The music continues to draw you in while you wait for his booming voice to pick back up vocally there are few surprises when you hear the “softer” side. That baritone voice tends to go away when he takes it down a notch.
There are some fun summer kickin it songs – it would be fitting if they got some play now, going into the fun in the sun party season. A couple of the raise your beer or margarita to a good time tunes are, “Summer Time” and “Rosalita”.
“Burden of a Workin’ Man” is a great heartfelt song, it shows that Jarod can relate to the everyday person, to his fans, to his friends.
My favorite song on the CD is – well it’s a toss-up between “Say the Word” He slowed everything down more of a raw feeling – you feel the emotion expressed both from the words, the tone inflections and the music. And – “She’s An Angel” - It’s the bad girl that’s good for you song – I love the music backing Jarod’s singing, very thoughtful. The lyrics are excellent and lyric for lyric it’s the best on the album that.
Another one I really like is Moonlight Kiss. The music pulls you in before Jarod even starts singing. It’s kind of a “slow” song sung to a ‘faster pace’ – I found it interesting. It’s different, you listen to it, the context of the lyrics - it should be a slow, methodical, romantic song, but somehow the arrangement works. It works well.
The CD ends with a small town song. Food for thought song as I call it. It’s hard not to listen to a song like this and not #ponder things - #ponder where you came from, where you are, where you want to be. #ponder what is really important. “We Did It” is one of those “timeless” songs, it’ll survive all the “fads” etc. of music and will be played for the decades.
Overall the CD is very good. It has well written songs that are very strong musically. There are a couple that if I had my way would garner some radio play. It’s definitely worth checking out and grabbing a tune or two.
